About Nurfarhani Abdul

In 2013, she pursued a degree in International Relations at the Universiti Malaysia Sabah and was inspired to learn about children's rights after taking Human Rights classes in her third year of study. Having graduated in 2017, she worked as a Research Assistant relating to access to CRVS (Civil Registration and Vital Statistic) for migrant families in Sabah. For the past years, she has worked in community development and human rights issues, focusing on issues affecting migrant women and children in Sabah. Her outstanding contribution was in the area of rights to identity, assisting Indonesian families in registering birth certificates for their children to keep them from becoming stateless. She also worked with human trafficking victims in women's shelter to empower and help the victim to understand their rights as a human beings. She currently works with the Social and Human Rights Team of a global organisation called Earthworm Foundation and is an active member of ANAK, a non-governmental organisation that promotes the rights of non-citizen children. Before joining Earthworm Foundation in 2022, she was working in Child Safeguarding Project for the migrant family in Keningau, Sabah under the European Union funding in collaboration with UNICEF Malaysia and was active in food aid program during Movement Restriction Order when COVID19 outbreak happened in 2020-2021.
