About Nusrat Harun

I am an experienced biostatistician with deep knowledge of statistical methodology and its appropriate application to clinical research. My collaborations include a diverse range of clinical areas such as stroke, multiple types of cancer (head and neck and breast cancer in particular), lymphangioleiomatisis (LAM), and pediatric conditions. I have gathered extensive experience in broad clinical disciplines while collaborating with investigators at the University of Texas Health Science Center, the MD Anderson Cancer Center, UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, and the University of Cincinnati. I was included in a multi-site study with forty children’s hospital across USA and Canada that led to collaborations with investigators from those institutions. I currently support pivotal breast cancer trials primarily doing exploratory data analysis for Novartis Pharma AG via Cytel Inc. I have experience analyzing data from observational studies and large databases from electronic health records. I have contributed to abstracts, manuscripts, and grant applications of clinical investigators. I have served as an educator and a mentor to students, residents, clinical fellows, and faculty from diverse clinical disciplines. I am also serving as mentors to junior statisticians in my current role. I have experience in survival analysis, longitudinal data analysis, causal inference, mediation analysis, predictive modeling, and Bayesian methods. I have experience with methodological research using Bayesian nonparametric models. I have investigated this approach in incorporating external controls in clinical trials to increase power when either sample size or effect size is small. This research would provide alternative designs and analytic methods for conducting clinical trials and more efficient and interpretable predictive models for machine learning. I have experience submitting a grant proposal to Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute under their Methods PFA mechanism. My long-term research goal is to find innovative approaches and medicines to cure diseases and improve patient outcomes. I would like to develop approaches to integrate data from multiple sources and predict clinical outcomes for personalized medicine.
