About Nusrat Shaikh

One of my most memorable days from school is from year 5 when I won a story writing competition unexpectedly! My English teacher had entered my homework in this contest as she found my take on ‘it was a rainy day’ prompt ‘a page-turner’. Although, I’ve always wondered if she said that because I was way over the 500-word limit. Since then, I’ve pursued creative and scriptwriting to develop the skills and enthusiasm needed to write scripts for TV and short films, prose, blogs, content for social media platforms and (embarrassingly one too many) poems. This led me to Channel 5’s Milkshake! as ‘commissioning and acquisition assistant’ where one of my main responsibilities is to sift through the spectrum of show ideas to find the ones promising great entertainment and value and assisting in execution of these stories to their full potential while maintaining their true gist. Working on professional scripts has helped me understand the weight of commercial appeal and given me the ability to effectively collaborate with productions. I am passionate about telling good stories, and currently polishing up a couple of short animation scripts and hope to collaborate with animators to further these projects.
