About Odhiambo Kasera

I hold a First Class Honors Bachelor of Arts Degree in International Relations and Diplomacy with Information Technology and a Distinction in Master of Arts Degree in International Relations from Maseno University. I am an impact-oriented researcher, educationist and development practitioner with over 10 years hands-on research and development programming experience and 6 years of University-level teaching. I have practiced research in both donor and academic domains and on inter/multi-disciplinary contexts across issues ranging refugees and migrants; PWDs; Vulnerable/Marginalized Categories - Women, Girls, Youth, People at Conflict with Law, LGBTQI+; Socio-Political Dimensions of Emerging & Disruptive Technologies etc. I have experience in planning and supervising research projects; data collection: manual and using KOBO-Collect, data analysis with Excel, SPSS v.26 (QUANT) and Nvivo Software (QUAL). I have translated research findings/reports into actionable policy and programmatic recommendations both for academic and action/operational research. I am the Founder & Lead Consultant of VA Research & Consulting, an upcoming research services for-profit enterprise which provides cutting-edge research services in some of the most critical challenges hampering the attainment of Africa's Agenda 2063 and Global SGDs Agendas. My Vision for the organization is transform the firm into a leading research institution on Africa's research, training and developmental issues. I also hold a research portfolio at a Grassroots Organization, Champions of Peace Movement – Kenya, as the Head of Research & Policy Department and Programs Officer an opportunity which I use to plan and execute, in consultations with the Director, all the organization's research projects and support Girls and Young Mothers Programs (GYM), Prevention and Countering Violent Extremism (PCVE) Programs, Climate Action, and LGBTQI+ Programs. I Lecturer courses in Community Development, International Relations, and Political Science at SDSS, Maseno University. Teaching fulfils me most especially because it gives the chance to mentor the leaders to today and tomorrow -The Youths. Lastly, I serve as an Associates Consultant at Inter-Act Research Associates (IARA) where I play a critical role in designing projects, prospecting and applying for consultancies, collecting and analyzing data, developing study reports and customizing research reports according to different donor and actors/stakeholders needs.
