Background
About Olasile Adekoya
I’m an environmental scientist and MSc candidate in Water and Environmental Management at the University of Bristol, supported by the prestigious Think Big Scholarship. With a solid background in Industrial Chemistry, my career spans water quality assessment, sustainability leadership, and global engagement—driven by a clear mission: to bridge opportunity gaps and foster inclusive progress across communities, especially in Africa. My work currently focuses on international collaboration through the University of Bristol’s Global Engagement Division, where I contribute to strengthening partnerships that expand access for underrepresented student groups. I bring to this role a strong belief that global institutions can—and must—work together with local actors to create lasting, equitable impact. In Nigeria, I led multiple educational and sustainability initiatives: from distributing PPE during the COVID-19 pandemic to protect over 200 students and lecturers, to raising in support of underserved schools. At Bristol, I served as a student Telephone Fundraiser, helping raise over in support of underrepresented students. I also work as an international student content creator, using storytelling to amplify diverse student voices and build a more inclusive campus community. Beyond my technical competencies in GIS, water quality monitoring, and data analytics (Python, SPSS, Excel), I founded the Light Up Osogbo Educational Initiative, a youth-focused platform that has empowered more than 2,500 students with career guidance, mentoring, and life skills. My work reflects a deep, ongoing commitment to both global and grassroots impact. I’m passionate about forging connections across sectors—academia, government, NGOs—to build systems that lift people up and ensure no community is left behind. Let’s connect if you’re working on sustainability, education equity, international development, or global partnerships. I’m always open to collaboration and conversation.
