About Olga Hermann

Currently working as a Consultant Ecologist at Arbtech. I started working in ecology as a fieldwork surveyor in 2021, undertaking protected species surveys and eCOW supervisions. I gained valuable experience with many protected species such as reptiles, dormice, bats, badgers, and GCN. In my current role I manage and undertake Phase 1 surveys such as preliminary ecological appraisals and preliminary roost assessments and am confident in identifying ecological constraints within a wide range of sites and varying developments. With a keen interest in botany, Im rapidly gaining confidence in undertaking Phase 2 advanced botanical surveys- currently working at a self-proclaimed FISC level 4. With the new implementation of Biodiversity Net Gain, I now provide notable expertise when identifying and mapping habitats, completing baseline habitat condition assessments, and identifying scope for habitat creation and enhancement to maximise biodiversity unit creation. Additionally, Im confident in planning, managing and undertaking a range of Phase 2 protected species surveys, including but not limited to; reptile surveys, badger surveys- utilising both camera trapping and traditional sand and stick methods, bat emergence surveys (BES), bat activity surveys with transects and statics, ground level tree assessments for roosting bats, GCN eDNA surveys, water vole surveys, otter surveys, and dormice surveys.
