About Olga MacBeath

Classroom teacher and middle leader, seeking new opportunities outside of teaching. I spent ten years at Children's BBC working on a variety of factual and entertainment programmes such as Blue Peter and Newsround. During my time there, I progressed from Secretary to Researcher to Assistant Producer. When the department was moved to Salford, I re-trained to become a Primary School teacher. Cut to twelve rewarding years later, I am keen to make a move back into a creative and dynamic role that will utilise my many transferable skills that include: Clear communication. • Consistently graded outstanding in classroom performance observations. • Enabling children to achieve success in KS1 SATs results and phonics screenings. • Adaptive to needs of audience. • Pro-active relationship building with multiple stakeholders such as children, parents, senior leadership and governors. • Mentoring new teachers. • Coaching skills developed through internal course. • Directing crews on location across multiple programme strands. • Working closely with editors to ensure the film matches the intended outcome. Ability to work under pressure. • Organising multiple workflows. Teaching is incredibly busy and stressful. On top of that I am currently the PE lead. I need to ensure that I am on top of every aspect of my varied job and pride myself on my ability to do so. • Whilst researching and directing, turning pieces around within a certain time frame. Coordinating tasks. • Precise attention to detail. • Managing team of nine teachers and teaching assistants as a phase leader. • Leading the team through the coronavirus pandemic and the switch to online learning. • Head of the PE team and formerly Creative Arts team.
