I definitely got into marketing by accident. My career started not in an agency, but as a life sciences bench researcher, where I was trained to follow the scientific method: form a hypothesis, test it, and let the data tell the story, without bias. When I moved into operations and became the COO of a niche agency, I was struck by how much of the industry ran on gut feelings. As an analytical, systems-oriented thinker, that chaos was a challenge. I’m hardwired to require objective data to feel confident in a decision, so I fell back on what I knew: the scientific method. I began systematically testing everything to find the signal in the noise. This became my core function: translating complex data into a clear, actionable story. At my agency, Covalent Bonds, this obsession with optimization evolved into our mantra:"the numbers are, what the numbers are." We built our entire internal operating system on this principle. It wasn't about just reporting what happened; it was about understanding why it happened and deciding what to do next. This system, battle-tested by our entire team, allowed us to pivot client strategies with incredible speed and confidence. But we realized the power of this methodology was being stifled,"hidden behind our services." It was too valuable to remain just an internal tool. That's why I'm now focused on ACTsights®. My mission is to share this proven, agency-forged operating system with other small agencies.
