About Oliver Ebert

Oliver Ebert (*1969 in Rottweil, law studies in Konstanz and Paris I-Sorbonne) is an attorney-at-law and managing partner of REK Rechtsanwälte (Stuttgart, Balingen). He is a special attorney-at-law on information technology law and specialises in intellectual property law and data protection law. Further skills are data protection auditor and data protection officer (certified by TÜV SÜD). His clients include medium-sized companies and international corporations. For more than two decades, he has been active as a university lecturer for internet law and e-commerce and shares his knowledge in numerous lectures and publications. In alter ego, he is managing director of mediaspects GmbH, Europe's leading provider of diabetes data management solutions. Oliver Ebert is also considered one of the pioneers of electronic diabetes data management: software developed by himself ("DIABASS®") is in use for treatment documentation of far more than 4 million patients overall Europe. For many years he has been dealing with diabetes in an additional professional alter ego: he supports patients, relatives and health care professionals in legal affairs. In honorary commitment he was acting as chairman of the Social Affairs Committee of the German Diabetes Society (DDG) for nearly one decade. In this context, he was engaged as co-coordinator/co-author of the evidenced-based (S2e) scientific guideline "Diabetes & Road Traffic" As a specialist journalist for medicine, data protection and patients' rights, he can look back on a list of over 600 publications; at the same time, he has contributed to several standard medical books. He is member of editorial board of the journals Diabetes-Journal, Diabetes Forum and Diabetes-Eltern-Journal. For his honorary commitment to people with disabilities, especially with chronic diseases such as diabetes, he was awarded the Gerhard-Katsch Medal of the German Diabetes Society and the Thomas Fuchsberger Prize.
