About Oliver Gardner

I am a solicitor with more than 30 years of legal practice experience. I am trained to level 3 in psychotherapy (BACP). I am a former Trustee and remain a committed volunteer mentor at PureInSight, a charity supporting young care leavers. I am a former committee member of the Criminal Law Solicitors Association. I was appointed as the Law Society's representative to feed into the review of the Criminal Justice system undertaken by Lord Leveson. I continue to advocate for the rights of "looked after" children and those leaving care. I volunteer as a mentor to young people who have left care. I promote the rights of and advocate for young care leavers. My current role at Howards is to oversee the growth and development of Howards Solicitors as a high street practice that can offer clients the full range of services they are likely to require. I am pleased to say that our expertise and commitment to strong legal supplier / client relations has ensured steady and strong growth. As a result, we are continuing to recruit experienced and effective members of staff as we continue to develop the practice further. I specialise in criminal defence and motoring law with an emphasis on serious crime and regulatory matters as well as personal injury law. My criminal defence experience is varied and even in the early days included representation in violence and drugs cases to complex multi-million pound “white” collar crime such as VAT fraud. In 1998 for instance I successfully defended in the UK’s largest drugs conspiracy case to date and in later years I was also involved in a kidnapping case which involved the use of cell site technology for the first time in UK courts and involved the country's largest ever forensic submission. I continue to receive instructions in the most serious criminal cases. I have handled more than 2 dozen murder cases and no client of mine has ever suffered conviction in these murder cases. My clients have included listed companies, premier league footballers and even members of the judiciary.
