About Oliver James

Having grown up in a rural community, I love being immersed in nature. It's my place to escape, think, relax, and reflect, whether trekking in the mountains, sailing, or staring at the stars by a campfire in the dunes. This love of nature is also reflected in my work; I recognise the environmental impact of our industry and our duty to reconcile this with modern society's needs and demands. As a young boy, I was heavily influenced by my grandparents. They travelled and lived in countless exotic and exciting places around the world, and since then, travel has become a passion and a recurring theme throughout my career. Working in the construction industry has led me to many diverse places, regions, environments, and climates, ensuring an ability to swiftly adapt to the unique challenges and situations that construction projects throw at us. Living and working in diverse communities gave me fantastic insight, and by combining this with my own experiences as a dyslexic, I am deeply committed to fostering a diverse workplace by promoting inclusivity. A cornerstone of my own professional success has been out-of-the-box thinking, believing that everybody's voice, perspectives, and skills should be leveraged to drive innovative solutions and deliver exceptional outcomes. My diverse background has equipped me to effectively lead and execute highly complex projects, surpassing expectations and adding value and cost certainty for clients, stakeholders, and the wider community. With over 25 years of experience, I have successfully managed and delivered large-scale construction initiatives across multiple sectors, including healthcare, civil engineering, infrastructure, education, and hospitality. Working alongside some of the world's best contractors, consultants, and client organisations has been an incredible journey for me! This experience has fueled my passion for the construction industry, helping me reach personal goals I once thought were out of reach and allowing me to contribute to building skylines that I believe will inspire future generations.
