About Oliver Johnson

I am a motivated and enthusiastic individual who in 2018 completed a PGCE in Secondary History at the University of Reading. I have a broad range of teaching experience across four schools including a London preparatory school, a London academy and two Buckinghamshire state schools. I started as a teaching assistant at Capital City Academy in Brent where I was soon offered an unqualified teaching position within the school's English department, which I balanced with my teaching assistant role. I worked with the SEN department at the school to help students who have special educational needs so that they can reach the best of their abilities. My PGCE training year in 2017-18 in secondary history gave me further experience in two state schools in Buckinghamshire. In 2018 I re-joined Capital City Academy as a qualified History teacher. As of the 2023-24 academic year, I am working for a sixth year at Harris Lowe Academy Willesden (formerly Capital City Academy) and now hold the posts of Humanities KS3 Co-ordinator and Lead of Citizenship alongside my teaching role. In January 2024, I took upon another responsibility to help facilitate an online literacy curriculum within the academy in our bid to drive up the reading ages of all learners who form our cohort of students.
