About Olivia Bevan

Artist, Art Educator | Learning Designer and Creative Researcher My passion is to use art to foster creativity, empathy, and engagement within educational, museum and gallery spaces. With a strong academic background and practical experience in Fine Art, Art Education, Art History, and Visual Culture Studies, I am committed to promoting meaningful public engagement with the arts and creating opportunities for collaboration and creativity across diverse communities. I hold an Honours Degree in Fine Art from Stellenbosch University, specializing in Printmaking, Visual Culture Studies, and English Literature, and an MA in Fine Art/Printmaking from Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge. My academic work has focused on studio practice, expanded painting, and contemporary landscape painting. As a co-creator of the art education platform Create Space in Cape Town, I have contributed to developing creative learning spaces that inspire and educate. In addition to my creative practice, I am an experienced educator with expertise in curriculum development, particularly in the fields of Art History, Visual Arts, and English Literature. I have designed and taught visual arts curricula for school and higher education, including online learning environments, and have created content for adult education programs. My teaching philosophy encourages students to connect with the visual arts through inquiry, critical thinking, and creative expression. I have extensive experience working with students across various age groups, from school to adult learners, and am skilled in using a variety of digital platforms to enhance the learning experience.
