Background
About Olivia Grimwade
Finalist studying Biological Sciences at Durham University, specialising in molecular and cell biology. Undertaking modules in Genomics, Advanced Cell Biology, and Immunology in addition to a research project. Research project will focus on the LINC complex and associated proteins, understanding how issues within its components can disrupt the nucleoskeleton. Disruption of the nuclear membrane during migration (or metastasis) may lead to DNA damage or irregularities in transcription. Research into LINC could highlight its role in disease formation and in the case of cancers (breast carcinomas), disease progression. As a scientist with a passion for cancer biology I am aiming to undertake a masters in Biomedical Science.
