About Olivia Learmonth

I am the Learning and Youth Industry Coordinator at the Glasgow Film Theatre. My role involves guest relations, youth engagement and organising the youth focused industry events and masterclasses that teach young people more about the film, media and tv industries. As part of the GFT Education team, I assist in the overall running of the Glasgow Youth Film Festival. Recent graduate from Glasgow Caledonian Univesity with a first class degree in Media and Communications, focused on digital marketing, public relations and events. Throughout university I adopted the feminist perspective on a number of issues including gender representation in film and print as well as body image ideologies communicated through modern media platforms. Been working in film festivals for the last six years, in a variety of roles including public relations manager and special events team member. Previously, I was a play-worker in an after school and holiday care organisation, which allowed me to express creativity in work through arts and crafts as well as baking activities. This job also provided me with the opportunity to complete a variety of trainings ranging from Covid-19 infection control and child safeguarding. I have extensive experience in retail and enjoyed specifically visual merchandising and customer engagement. Avid social media user, particularly YouTube, Instagram and Pinterest. Passionate about fashion, feminism, travel, baking and film.
