About Olivia Nelson

I am an undergraduate psychology student minoring in Black Studies at Saginaw Valley State University, with aspirations to obtain a doctorate degree from a psychodynamic clinical psychology graduate program. I work as a Behavior Technician at Acorn Health of Saginaw, Michigan where I render therapeutic services to children with autism. Aiding my clients in their personal growth brings great meaning to my life. I volunteer as a Crisis Counselor at Crisis Text Line where I talk with individuals in distress to work from a hot moment toward finding a cooler calm. Being afforded the opportunity to engage with people in pain during some of their most vulnerable moments has been an indescribable experience for me, and helping texters to help themselves continues to empower me as a young professional in the mental health field.
