About Olivia Riggio

I'm a writer, editor, journalist and nonprofit fundraising director with a passion for independent media, grassroots activism, local news, culture, art and storytelling. I believe creativity and justice often intersect, and I'm excited by stories that give a megaphone to those who are often drowned out. I am presently the administrative and fundraising director at Fairness & Accuracy In Reporting (FAIR), a progressive, independent media watchgroup, where I also publish media criticism articles and studies. I also have bylines in Indypendent, a New York City-based nonprofit paper focusing on grassroots issues. I guest hosted and assisted with a radio show on WBAI 99.5FM in Brooklyn, New York for The Indypendent, a local independent newspaper. There, I've covered issues from youth climate justice, to workers' rights, to the decriminalization of sex work. Other publications I've written for include KCET, a California-based PBS partner; DiversityInc, a site that focuses on diversity and inclusion business news; and Indian Country Today, a publication focusing on Indigenous news across the country. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Ithaca College’s Park School of Communications with a journalism major and women’s and gender studies minor and a love for writing, online and radio storytelling. ​ There, I served as the Life and Culture editor at The Ithacan newspaper and was an intern for The Ithaca Voice and FAIR.
