About Olivia Tran

If you'd asked my elementary school self what my dream job was, the answer definitely would not have been "gay for pay." But it was during my time at the LGBT Resource Center as a graduate student that I saw how identity and personal experience didn't need to exist separately from work—in fact, those parts of ourselves that make us truly ourselves could be celebrated in all aspects of life, from personal to professional. At my core, I am an advocate for social justice and learning outside the boundaries of a traditional classroom, currently working in student affairs and higher education. If you're interested in how I first cemented my conviction in the power of storytelling and centering authentic voices, you can ask me about my time working as a writer and editor at a magazine for middle school aged girls.
