About Olli Valta

Electrical engineer with a M.Sc. degree. My main focus during studies was on Electromechanics and Power Electronics. My career with electrical machines started at ABB Pitäjänmäki in summer 2008. At first I got a summer job at synchronous machines test field where I continued to work for some 4 years, part-time during studies and full-time during summers. I really enjoyed my time there among great colleagues and got valuable hands-on experience on electrical machines. In fall 2012 I started working on my master’s thesis at ABB's Performance Design- team. Thesis was finished in summer 2013. Thesis’ topic is “Identifying Electrical Parameters for Excitation Machine of a Synchronous Generator by Simulation and Measurements“. A copy can be found in electrical form at Aalto University's library (written in Finnish). Having completed the thesis I continued working in ABB Tech Support- team until early 2016. I had an opportunity to work e.g. on sales support tasks involving electrical machine simulations and calculations. Worked at Fennovoima Oy nuclear power plant project as Electrical Engineer for 6 years between Feb 2016 and Apr 2022. Responsibilities focused on power plant electrical power distribution documentation handling and review during system design stage of the project. After Fennovoima returned to ABB Pitäjänmäki to sychronous sales support team where I worked for three years with large synchronous motors and generators for varying applications. Mostly the task was to provide motor/generator electrical dimensioning for sales projects. In May 2025 joined CoE Group and currently working in marine industry with electrical tasks.
