About Olly Hicks

Olly is an inspirational speaker & triple world record holder for his maritime expeditions. Furthering his passion for the oceans, Olly co-founded the seaweed and biotech start up, Algapelago. Pioneering the development of sustainable mariculture in the UK and beyond. Olly delivers inspirational and empowering talks about these expeditions and has spoken in over 10 countries to organisations including Google, TEDx, The International Space Station and The Royal Geographical society. He speaks on topics such as resilience, dealing with failure, adapting to change, goal setting, team work and leadership and high performance under pressure as well as delivering light hearted and humorous after dinner speeches. All presentations are bespoke to the client. He is best known for being the only person to have rowed solo from America to England as well as the youngest to row any ocean solo. He is also the only person to have rowed from Tasmania to New Zealand. In 2016, he lead the Greenland to Scotland Kayak Challenge in a bid to prove the Inuit may have reached Europe in the 17th century. He has also been on expeditions to Antarctica, the Falklands, the Sahara and kayaked down the Yukon river. He has rowed or paddled over miles and spent over 220 days at sea, often alone. Olly has built million dollar expedition campaigns with headline sponsors including Virgin, Google and Red Bull and has raised hundreds of thousands for charity. Olly is currently running the fund raising campaign for the Row the World project - The first row around the World.
