Background

About Om Katel

Passionate Educator & Researcher in Climate Change and Natural Resource Management: With over twenty years of teaching and with a rich academic background I have a bachelor's degree in Botany, specialised in Plant Pathology from North Bengal University. After my Master of Science degree, in North India, I moved to Thailand's premier Institute, Asian Institute of Technology for a PhD in Natural Resources Management. I have dedicated my career to understanding and teaching the complexities of our natural world and its landscape is affected by human interactions. Further, I am keen on understanding the sustainable management of the natural resources and how such approach can create create a little better place to live in. My journey so far has taken me to prestigious institutions like the University of Oslo, the University of Tokyo, and the International Centre for Climate Change and Development, Independent University, where I have deepened my expertise in sustainability and climate change adaptation and mitigation. Currently, I am a lecturer at the Royal University of Bhutan's College of Natural Resources, where I teach Climate Change, Statistics, Personal Development, Integrated Watershed Management, and Environmental Systems Analysis. My passion lies in enhancing and empowering students and researchers to become future leaders through application of critical thinking skills in environmental science and sustainability. I am deeply committed to advancing knowledge in water, forests, land, wildlife science, ecosystems, and climate modeling. Through my teaching and research, I strive to make a meaningful impact on our understanding and management of natural resources. I am happy to connect and collaborate to drive sustainable solutions for our planet and contribute even in a small way to make the planet a little better place to live in.
