About Omar Choudhry

Omar Choudhry AFHEA is a PhD candidate on the UKRI CDT AI-Medical (Artificial Intelligence for Medical Diagnosis and Care) programme and recipient of the ESPRC Studentship Award. He achieved a BSc in Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence (2020-2023), achieving multiple awards for excellence, teamwork and community engagement, whilst making him the youngest candidate on the CDT. He is a student representative for the UKRI CDT for Artificial Intelligence for Medical Diagnosis and Care, a postgraduate representative for students in the School of Computing and a teaching assistant for all levels of undergraduate computer science students (initially the first undergraduate teaching assistant of his cohort). He is the lead coordinator on the CDT’s Engagement Committee to help connect the cohorts' research to the wider public, schools, industry, and more magnified due to his position as a BeCurious Associate and Organiser for the CDT's Journal Club. He is the President of the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Society at Leeds and an Education Outreach Fellow for the Faculty of Engineering of Physical Sciences. He is also an Associate Fellow of Advance HE and a committee member for Scientific Machine Learning (SciML). He has had industry experience with the United Nations International Computing Centre (UNICC), Discover Financial Services and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. He holds Director for OC Solutions Ltd (providing bespoke information technology, software solutions and consultancy in various domains). He is a part-time lead full-stack developer and AI engineer for an AI Edutech startup. He has also had extensive teaching, tutoring and volunteering experience in schools and other organisations, including King Saud University in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the prestigious Mawhiba. He is a highly adaptive and resourceful individual with skills in leadership, communication, collaboration, time management, and project management. Motivated by AI's potential to improve lives and solve problems, he seeks to contribute to the advancement of this field through research, teaching, and innovation.
