About Omar Dehen

I am currently a Senior Media Advisor at the Australian Human Rights Commission, where I provide strategic advice on sensitive and complex issues, communications strategy, and risk management. Prior to this role, I spent 15 years as a broadcast journalist. This included eight years as a correspondent at SBS World News, telling important stories from Australia and around the world. I am also an Advisory Board Member at Affinity Intercultural Foundation, a not-for-profit committed to promoting inclusion, fostering cross-cultural dialogue, and strengthening civil society. I’m also available as a speaker - moderating panel discussions and appearing as a panellist. I completed a Journalism and Law degree at the University of Technology in 2012.
