About Omar Elfekky

My first experience working, at the age of 17, was at Walmart in August 2021, as a CAP-2 Associate. Walmart CAP-2 has been a niche experience during my time in the workforce. It consisted of unloading trucks and organizing them, as well as stocking shelves and helping customers. Being on my feet all day has made me resilient, as well as improved my ability to teamwork and problem solve. Soon after quitting Walmart in April 2022, I had the option to get a job in the food industry. Blaze Pizza presented me with this opportunity. It has by far my favourite experience in the customer service industry. This job allowed me to enhance my public speaking capabilities, as well as meet wonderful people. I have learnt creative ways to problem solve, as well as to always treat customers with kindness. I have not once had a customer speak negatively towards me. Unfortunately, I had no choice but to quit because of my University being in a city where taking transit would be unrealistic. Six months later, in February, I had decided to work while managing my school work. Currently, I work twice a week, and am doing very well in both my time management and organization. This job is within the customer service area, similarly to Blaze Pizza, and, for the short period I have worked, I have had the chance to hone my customer service, as well as adapt to a constant rush. This has enabled me to stay calm and collected in stressful situations. In terms of volunteering experiences, I have had some one day experiences, like volunteering for Immigrant Services, or in a cafe. But one that I have done for a certain duration of time, would be Foot Patrol at Western University. This job consisted of walking around for two hours every shift, walking people from destination to destination, in order to ensure their safety and keep their peace of mind. I also plan on being a Soph next year, which will grant me the leadership skills necessary within business organizations. Currently, I am awaiting my interview in two weeks. I believe all of these experiences and skills, such as organization, outgoingness, creativity, have lead me to a market oriented career path.
