About Omar Fleury

Hello, my name is Omar Fleury. I moved to New Orleans after eight years in the United States Marine Corps. I am currently an alumni of Tulane’s Executive MBA program. I have had serval jobs that have given me the opportunity to horn my skill in leadership and teamwork. While at Ekhaya Youth Project I often worked on teams with both individual and group task and goals. I served in United States Marine Corps (USMC) infantry. During my time in the USMC, I led many small unit missions, mostly squad sized teams of about 15 to 20 members, in multiple combat environments where I followed orders from above in word and intent, gave orders to squad members, and coordinated with peers to accomplish missions. These experiences gave me an opportunity to work in diverse teams of individuals under stressful conditions and learn to function in fast pace tactical environments. One of my USMC accomplishments that I am most proud of is becoming a Marine Corps Martial Arts Program (MCMAP) Instructor. Since my time in the USMC, I have earned a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Freeman School of Business at Tulane University in New Orleans. My experience in college has made me a better organizer of tasks, groups, and systems. I have had many hours of instruction on leadership and team dynamics, these classes have engrained in me the need to adjust my leadership approach to meet the context of my mission and operating environment. The thing I am most proud of from my college experience is becoming a member of several academic honors clubs. I actively work to better myself by listening to audiobooks and watching videos on communication skills, management, business analytics, and finance.
