About Omar Fuentes

I am a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, with a BBA in in Management Information Systems. I knew early on that I had picked the correct major as it has given me the flexibility to go many different ways with my career. I enjoy the challenge that programming presents, the practicality of well-built database and the information that can be derived from good and clean data. My biggest strength as an MIS major is the ability to communicate vertically, as a lot of what I do in my reporting role is serve as a liaison between technology and management teams. Currently, I am taking on the challenge to further my education and continuing to explore my interest in the field with the pursuit of a Master's degree in Data Analytics. I am only a couple of months in, but I can already see the huge benefits that this program will bring to my working career. With Citigroup, my role is focused on reporting incident data. Having held both a data entry/ formatting role and a reporting role I can see the end result of having quality data. Because I can see the outcome that quality data has on creating reports that help make decisions, I enjoy doing the dirty work of cleaning and standardizing data. Both of my roles have also required me to work independently, so I have no problem motivating myself to get the job done but I have also had the pleasure of completing projects with groups of talented people.My biggest passion is for sports, as I am a very competitive. I spend a lot of time watching sports, mainly baseball, but all sports gauge my interest. Consistent with my career interest, I also enjoy analyzing sports data and working on developing models to predict slumps and streaks in team production. My competitive nature, allows me to challenge myself to meet tight deadlines and take on new projects.
