About Omar Maqsood

With academic and professional experience spanning clinical research, molecular biology, and pharmacy operations, I am planning to pursue my Master's degree in Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology at the University of Toronto. I work as a Clinical Research Assistant at McMaster Children’s Hospital, supporting pediatric nephrology projects, and as a Research Student at the University Health Network (UHN), where I was awarded the NSERC-USRA to investigate cardiovascular disease at the Toronto General Hospital Research Institute. I bring skills in molecular biology techniques, statistical analysis (MATLAB, R, SAS, Minitab), and cross-cultural communication, with over volunteer hours supporting diverse and marginalized communities. I hold multiple academic distinctions, including the Dean’s Honour List and the NSERC Undergraduate Student Research Award. My mission is to bridge science, healthcare, and community engagement to advance equitable, evidence-based care and improve patient outcomes.
