About Omar Mostafa

I'm a junior at New York University Abu Dhabi majoring in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Computer Science. My academic and research interests lie at the intersection of robotics and machine learning—particularly in reinforcement learning (RL) applications for real-world robotic systems. Over the past 1.5 years, I’ve been a research assistant at the Center for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (CAIR) at NYUAD under Prof. Anthony Tzes, where I worked on control, simulation, and deployment for advanced robotic platforms like the Diablo Robot. I’m currently a summer research intern at the Machines in Motion lab under Prof. Ludovic Righetti, focusing on bridging the Real2Sim gap in reinforcement learning for robotics deployment. I’ve taken coursework in control systems, robotic manipulation and locomotion, robot vision, and computer vision, which continues to shape my systems-level understanding of intelligent machines. I’m passionate about building robotic systems that make the world safer, more efficient, and more accessible. My goal is to contribute to cutting-edge robotics research and help bring intelligent, reliable robotic systems into the real world.
