About Omar Sangurima

We get up to some pretty life-changing things at MSK. I often say I *get* to work here, and I mean it. I'm also privileged to spend time with what I consider one of the best teams in tech. I know, I'm biased, but I'm also right on this one, trust me;) I take point on keeping our security policy portfolio (replete with standards, procedures, and guidelines) updated and relevant. This means I'm blending pertinent academic research, industry best practices, and alignment with the Center's culture to produce adaptive governance that supports our overall mission. There is not a nook nor cranny I will leave unexamined, or area of security I will shy away from, if it means protecting and enabling this fine institution. I guide the IT Governance portfolio in similar fashion. I also orchestrate the inspired efforts of our Cyber Legal and Awareness & Training squads to continuously deliver outsized value, excellent service management, and cybersecurity stewardship throughout the organization. I'm a strategic partner and Risk & Compliance leader with a depth of knowledge in aligning security initiatives with enterprise programs and business objectives to ensure the organization is effectively protected. As a technology and cyber risk advisor, I'm skilled in facilitating risk conversations that identify insights to support strategic decision-making, develop a strategic focus and roadmap, and shape and refine risk programs within an organization.
