About Omer A.

Graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering and a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Sciences (June 2021). Currently working towards my MBA at DeGroote School of Business. My interest in digital entertainment led me to co-found Comikey Media Inc, which is now one of the largest comic localization company in the world! I have been working at Comikey for four years now. Throughout these years, my team has been involved in developing, and maintaining, multiple international comic platforms such as MANGA Plus, Manga UP, and our own platform, Comikey. I have experience working as a Software Engineer, Data Engineer, Project/Product Manager, and have acted as an Advisor to two other startups. I've seen success, failure, stagnation, and unprecedented growth working in these different roles. Some highlights of my past roles (not related to my startup) are my involvement as a lead Software Engineer in creating a rapid COVID testing device (sent for clinical testing) and my involvement in a pest-host relational database for researchers at the University of Guelph. I have worn multiple hats doing everything from manually scraping data to running investor meetings. Enough of the work stuff. Let me tell you what I love to do on the side! I absolutely love traveling, hiking, motorcycles, flying, reading books (currently reading Chaos Monkeys by Antonio García Martínez), learning new languages, and indulging myself in Anime/Manga/Webtoons (probably my favorite). I am a strategic thinker who has a passion for products that simply work. I focus on building strong teams that help me help them collaborate and prioritize tasks to launch successful features and products. I am a strong believer in actions backed by data; however, I love to also dabble in some personal *wants* and user requests. A quick way I would describe myself would be: I make things happen.
