About Omkar Kane

My journey into the world of technology began early in my life, as I actively participated in science fairs, including the prestigious Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF). Notably, in 2016, I developed a remarkable brainwave-based control system to pilot a drone, showcasing the potential of brainwave technology in controlling physical devices. Furthermore, in 2015, I presented a groundbreaking gesture-based control system for drones, enabling flight commands through hand gestures. These projects earned me recognition and awards, including the 4th place award at ISEF. Beyond my academic pursuits, I've also held leadership roles as a Senior Residence Assistant and Residence Assistant at Bishop's University. Successfully managing teams, organizing events, and ensuring the safety and well-being of residents has been an enriching experience. In terms of my technical projects, I've explored various domains, including music generation using machine learning. I developed a C++ software that leveraged LSTM networks to generate novel classical music. Additionally, I created a data analysis and storage software in Python, which parsed real-time esports events data and uploaded it to a SQL database through a REST API. I also actively contributed to the Bishop's University Computer Science community by developing a Python Discord Bot that streamlined the process of assigning class roles to new students.
