About Onalenna Neo
Current PhD research student working on elucidating the role and mechanism of Fusobacteria in colorectal cancer. Skilled in both tissue culturing, microbiology culture techniques, molecular techniques such as RT-qPCR, western blotting and Elisa techniques. Have worked on plasmids and their role in horizontal transfer of antimicrobial resistance genes. Currently improving my bioinformatics skills to use in techniques such as rna-sequencing. I am passionate about the empowerment of young people especially those from underprivileged backgrounds. Co-founded Empowerment Redefined with the aim of improving access to information and opportunities to children and young people in Africa through mentoring and dissemination of expert knowledge in STEM. Other interests include writing and poetry. Currently working on a debut poetry book!
