About Orelia Jonathan

With over six years of work experience in the education sector, I am a passionate and dedicated educator and researcher who strives to advance equity and opportunity for diverse learners and communities. As an Instructional Fellow at Harvard University, I teach and mentor graduate and undergraduate students in various courses related to education policy, history, and practice. I conduct qualitative research on teachers, history education and history curriculum in conflict settings; my work focuses specifically on South Sudan and East Africa. I expect to graduate from Harvard University with PhD in Education in Spring 2024, I have a Master of Science in Education from the University of Pennsylvania, and a Bachelor of Arts in History and African American Studies from Wesleyan University. In my current role as an Instructional Fellow, I have designed, contributed to teaching and delivered curriculum and instruction for over 15 courses across multiple disciplines and programs at Harvard. I have also collaborated with faculty, staff, and students to create inclusive and supportive learning environments that foster critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration. Additionally, I have contributed to the academic and professional development of students and peers by providing feedback, guidance, and mentoring.
