About Orla Oconnor

I am Chair at Arthur Cox and a partner in the Firm’s Finance Group. I was elected Chair of the firm in May 2019, the fifth person to hold this role and the first women. I have over 20 years experience holding divisional and firm leadership roles, including roles on the firm's management committee and conflicts committee and chair of its legal tech initiative. I currently chair our policy committee which is our board equivalent. Financing and financial regulation are my primary areas of practice. I have worked on and led numerous financing and restructuring transactions across multiple sectors as well as M&A transactions within the financial services sector. I lead the firm's relationships with many key financial institution and private equity clients. I also advise on a wide range of regulatory issues relating to payments, electronic money, anti-money laundering, mortgage arrears and consumer credit. I have advised banks, private equity firms and servicers expanding and restructuring their operations on regulatory, licensing and other legal issues and on their interactions with the Central Bank.
