About Orley E.

As a graduate student in William & Mary’s Higher Education Administration master’s program, my passion for higher education stems from my experience as a first-generation, low-income (FGLI) student and leader of a student organization advocating for FGLI students. My academic and professional journey is dedicated to creating equitable policies and programs that address the barriers faced by underrepresented students.Currently, I serve as the graduate assistant for the First-Generation Student Engagement Office, where I work to ensure William & Mary is a thriving, supportive environment for all students. Additionally, as a TutorZone Coach, I assist undergraduate students with academic skills such as time management, study strategies, and effective professor communication.My commitment to student success aligns with my belief that higher education is a tool for social mobility and inclusion. Through my coursework and research, I aim to develop impactful programs in Student Affairs that empower students to achieve their goals.Most recently, I completed the William R. Hearst Fellowship at the Aspen Institute, where I contributed to its Philanthropy and Social Innovation department.
