About Orrin Konheim

I am a multi-faceted freelance writer, journalist, blogger whose work has appeared in print and on the internet in a wide variety of publications as listed below. I also authored an e-book-for-hire on World War I and was the content manager for ArlingtonCounty.com while it was under ownership of CountyWebsite.com. Although I have an educational background in geography, I started devoting myself to journalism full-time in 2010 and have remained in the field because, at the end of the day, I believe journalism is important. Although I primarily write in the Northern Virginia and Richmond markets, my work has appeared in publications as far away as the Southern Poverty Law Center in Alabama, the Skagit Valley Herald in Washington, and the Santa Barbara Independent in California in addition to the nationally-distributed Nostalgia Digest and Mental Floss Magazines. Although I have covered everything from a presidential rally to county board deliberations to the Scripps National Spelling Bee, much of my reporting is in the human interest vein and I often try to seek human interest angles when doing event reporting. Additionally, I have extensive experience publishing articles on the television and film industries and have blogged on film and television since 2006. I also have delved into historic journalism for American History Magazine, Metal Floss Magazine, Today I Found Out which is complimented by my work as a researcher for the National Archives where I have taken on over a dozen research contracts since 2013. In the past few years, I have been branching out to using my blogging and social media expertise to do public and press relations work for a number of small businesses including Crime Push, Lucid Gems Film Production, Human Resources author Christine Pietschmann, Tandoor Restaurant in Ballston, the Pacers New Balance Running Team, Arlington T-Shirt Quilts, Cram.com, Tyson's Art and Learning Center, and Communikids Schools. I am also bilingual and speak Spanish with near fluency.
