As a Bookkeeper at the Guardianship Program of Dade County, I play a crucial role in managing the financial well-being of our wards. My responsibilities encompass the maintenance and oversight of all computerized income and disbursements, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. I reconcile and balance financial operating bank accounts on both a daily and monthly basis, prepare payments and cash receipts for bank deposits, and issue checks to vendors and facilities. My role involves regular research of invoices and check requests, as well as entering essential data regarding ward benefits into our system. Collaboration with our legal department is vital; I submit and follow up on court order requests, read and interpret various court orders, and ensure compliance with all legal requirements. Additionally, I manage restricted bank and trust accounts for wards and maintain their monthly auto-pay systems. By consulting with agency staff on financial matters and regularly reviewing ward financial assets, I help uphold compliance with court regulations. Through my work and the work of our agency, we are responsible to safeguard the financial interests of our vulnerable population by making sure they receive the support and resources they need.
