As a Research Technician at Trent University, our team advances soil health research, delving into the soil's microbial responses to agricultural practices. With an MSc in Environmental and Life Science, my role encompasses coordinating molecular lab activities, mentoring students, and contributing to impactful research papers. Highlights of my expertise are as follows-Analysis of soil quality using indicators of particle size distribution, aggregate stability, soil organic carbon, active carbon, inorganic carbon, and NO3-/NH4+ levels - GHG flux measurements, chamber & field experiment designs, water quality analysis -Identification and enumeration of bacteria using serial dilution, Polymerase chain reaction (PCR), real-time PCR assays, Agarose gel electrophoresis. Enzyme assays -Hands-on experience in instrumentation - pH meter, scales, Wet Sieving apparatus, UV-spectrophotometer, Lachat instrument, CNS element analyzer, Gasmet, GC-MS, Nanodrop,Ball mill -General lab equipment calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting-Proficient in computer software: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, R software, Sigma Plot, Origin, PC-ORD, Quant Studio 3 (Applied Biosystems)-Excellent knowledge and experience in GLP, GMP, MSDS, LIMS, and WHMIS-Reports, articles, proposals, and manuscripts writing-Communication of research/project findings to a diverse audience- Project management & coordination.
