About Owain Johns

With nearly 10 years of experience in client management, participant management, and database management, I specialize in UX, usability, user testing, and market research. Currently, I’m a Project Lead at People for Research, where I serve as the first point of contact for all new B2C projects. I handle the end-to-end process, from discussions and quoting to project allocation, ensuring smooth execution by our Project Management team. I also oversee key contracts, working closely with their Commercial and Research Operations teams to review agreements, manage the pipeline of work, and strategize on how to improve our participant pool to meet client needs. This role allows me to balance business development with operational oversight, making sure we provide high-quality, tailored solutions to our clients. Before having a second child, I held the position of Head of Projects. In this role, I managed a team of 10 Project Managers and handled contracts worth over a million pounds across various sectors. I also worked on converting leads and enquiries from both new and existing clients, contributing to the growth of the business. My background also includes managing an on-site viewing facility, where I coordinated user testing and events, gaining vital experience in hosting, user experience, and technical aspects of testing. One of my proudest achievements has been working on initiatives to improve participant recruitment for people with diverse access needs, as well as building relationships with charitable organizations to ensure their users have a voice in the product testing process, particularly in government and financial services. Before moving into the world of project management, I honed my skills in Events Management, which laid the foundation for my expertise in client services and project management. Outside of work, I’m passionate about sport, travel and Welsh culture - interests that have also provided unique opportunities to collaborate with clients in these sectors.
