About Owen Evans

I am a qualified Officer of the Watch holding an Unlimited Certificate of Competency, with eight years of previous experience working in the maritime sector. During my training, I served on a variety of ships including a crude oil tanker operating worldwide, a cruise ship predominantly Mediterranean based and an Antarctic resupply vessel. During my last contract I spent over four months in Antarctica gaining over 100 hours of ship handling time whilst there. I studied at Warsash Maritime Academy, completing all the academic requirements at a high level in order to gain my COC Unlimited. Previous to this course, I worked in Brightlingsea Harbour as an Assistant Harbour Master, which gave me a great deal of practical skills that were easily transferable to my career in the Merchant Navy. Prior to this, I studied for a BA in Airline & Airport Management, where I achieved a first class degree; this gave me valuable management skills and improved my communication skills greatly. Through my education and work experience I have become a very well rounded individual, capable of taking on the roles of an officer of the watch to a very high standard.
