About Owen Mooney

Experienced Development Officer, Coach Developer, Tutor, Mentor, Public Speaker and Coach. Currently I am Learning & Games Development Coordinator with Dublin GAA; alongside being a Doctor of Professional Practice in Sport candidate at Leeds Beckett University where my research is titled “#TimeToPlay - Understanding the Role of Play for Children & Coaches”. I’m also a host of the ICOACHKIDS Podcast. As well as working abroad, I have a strong history of being heavily involved in the sports industry in Ireland for over 10 years. Previously I was employed by Special Olympics Ireland as National Coach & Sport Development Coordinator; Rockland GAA as a Games Development Officer in New York. Before that I was with Ulster GAA as a Department of Education NI (DENI) Physical Literacy Coach & Development Officer and I was seconded to Ulster Ladies Gaelic as Provincial Ladies Football Development Officer. I have spoken at local, national and international conferences in Ireland, UK and the United States.
