About Owen Rock

AN UP AND READY STUDENT: A curious and enthusiastic student ready to dive into the professional field of aerospace engineering, specifically aerostructures, stability and control, and/or propulsion. EAGER STUDENT | AEROSPACE CLUB | RESEARCH | SENIOR DESIGN: Assisted in designing, fabricating, and implementing a rover into a high-powered rocket as part of the rocketry club while studying as a full-time student. Assisted on the payload team of the rocketry club in designing and manufacturing a self-landing payload. Working with the rocketry club brought about a collaborative experience in the engineering field within a semi-professional environment. Through this, hoping to gain some real-world structures knowledge in order to apply it in future jobs. Assisted grad students in their research within the super- and hypersonic industry, focusing on inlet design. Collaborating with a group of six to design a UAS which had the capabilities of scanning for weeds and spraying herbicide in pin point locations. PROFESSIONAL SOFTWARES | OPTIMIZING WORK: Worked on countless projects in the aerospace field which lead to being a strong coder in MATLAB, 3D designer in SolidWorks, ANSYS Mechanical, ANSYS Fluent, AVL, XFoil, OpenVSP. INTEREST IN MATHEMATICS: Minoring in mathematics to improve understanding of complicated aerospace topics. EXCITED TO START A CAREER: Interested in an aerospace internship or job, around the North Carolina area but willing to branch out.
