About Pablo Ortiz

I am an extremely curious person. As a kid, I would ask "why?" endlessly, to the despair of my family. I am still passionate about understanding both science and human nature. I am a restless learner, which has led me to explore different fields during my career. I started studying pharmacy, then became interested in molecules and research, so I switched fields and moved to organic chemistry, where I earned a PhD. After several years of fundamental research I realized that I wanted to have a tangible impact in the society with my work so I moved to applied research on renewable materials. As I grew professionally, I became less interested in the details and more in the big picture and the interconnection between topics. I moved from the execution of research to its management, and I am currently involved in it commercialization through the creation of deeptech ventures. Along this way I pursued and MBA to strengthen my management, leadership and communication skills. I still keep learning and improving. But I like to learn not only for the sake of acquiring knowledge. I want to apply what I have learned. I am proactive, determined and goal-oriented. I deliver. I get things done. I also like to share what I have learned. I like working and mentoring younger colleagues. I believe that we live in a decisive time for the future of our planet and humanity, and I am committed to contributing to making the world a better place.
