About Paddy Daly

Paddy Daly has more than 25 years experience working in the field of Environmental Chemistry and brownfield regeneration. He was awarded a PhD from the Chemistry Department of Liverpool University in 1985 following a BSc in Pure and Applied Chemistry (1982) from Liverpool University. He acted as a Post Doctoral Research Associate with the Oceanography Department of Liverpool before working at Warren Springs Laboratory from 1987-1988. In 1988 he joined British Gas Research and Technology as an Environmental Scientist and was an original member of the Contaminated Land Team established at the London Research Station. He moved to British Gas Research Station at Loughborough and was promoted to Technical Consultant/Section Leader of the Contaminated Land Team, line-managing 6 research staff. This team undertook research on behalf of British Gas Property into issues relating to contaminated land and evaluating novel technologies for their suitability for use of British Gas owned sites. In he joined BG Property as a Regeneration Manager, specialising in the creation and management of small teams tailored in the investigation and remediation of contaminated soils and groundwaters on brownfield sites with specific expertise of former gasworks. In addition, since 2005 he has managed the National Grid Property and National Grid Gas’s research programmes into contaminated land. In this role he worked with a number of University Departments and consultants and has sat on a number of steering committees set up by the research council funding bodies. He is a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry (CChem MRSC, CSci), and since 2002 an accredited SiLC. He is currently an external assessor for the Nottingham University’s MRes in Contaminated Land Management.
