About Padmanav Acharya

Dr. Padmanav Acharya has been in the field of teaching and research for little over 30 years. A Bachelor of Engineering (Hon's) in Mechanical Engineering from Utkal University, he has done his M.Tech and Ph.D in the area of Industrial Engineering from I.I.T. Kharagpur. Beginning his career in Utkal University as a lecturer and later as Assistant Professor in the autonomous institute IGIT Sarang under Govt. of Odisha, he later joined as Associate Professor in Gwalior in 2008 and is presently working as Professor in IIM Mumbai (earlier NITIE Mumbai).Prof. Acharya is actively pursuing his research interest in the area of project management, supply chain and logistics management, lean manufacturing and system dynamics. He has guided seven PhD and more than 250 post graduate students. Four more scholars are currently pursuing PhD under his guidance. He also has about 50 research papers of international and national level. He has been a technical expert committee member at NPIU, Noida. He has also served as curricula revision and evaluation committee member at IGNOU, New Delhi. His industry liaison includes NALCO, TCS, JK Tyres, Godrej, HPCL, JSW, DRDO, HEG, Coromondal etc. for whom he has carried out consulting projects or undertaken UBP training programs. Prof. Acharya has conducted Faculty Development programs, MDPs and UBPs as well as National conferences. He has also served as Professor in charge Admissions and Dean of Academics at NITIE Mumbai (now IIM Mumbai). He has been the Program Chair for One year PGPEx program for working executives of Coal India Limited since its beginning in 2024.He loves to continue his pursuit of research at the highest level in aforementioned areas of interest in collaboration with other institutes and industry.
