About Paige Morkrid

I believe clinical practice is strengthened by the application of research, continuous education, and variety of clinical experience. Integrating evidence based practices and clinical knowledge with compassion and interpersonal skills allows me to create a versatile, yet tailored assessment and intervention plans for my patients. Having a plan which is customized to my patient’s goals increases their quality of life. I believe my diagnostic results and treatment approaches must be communicated to my patients, their families, and related staff in patient friendly terms. In addition, time must be spent educating caregivers on the challenges of recovery. It is important to recognize the emotions and struggles of another person and to see another’s situation from his/her perspective. The ability to communicate is often taken for granted. As a clinician, it is my duty to help my patients communicate and become an advocate for their needs. With practice and patience everyone can learn and grow. Although I am intuitive with most people, I am also open to adapting my techniques to different learning styles and personalities. My goal is to create a supportive environment where my clients have the confidence to succeed. During my time as a clinician, I have been educated by my clients, who have taught me about patience, success through persistence, and that you are never too old or young to learn. Sometimes leadership means learning from others. Furthermore, I have determined patience, compassion and attentive listening skills are essential when considering a client’s progress in therapy. To be an effective speech language pathologist, using research is essential, intervention must be meaningful, and the clinician must be accountable.
