As Chemistry Supervisor, I act as the Technicial Specialist for all areas of the chemistry lab by facilitating the resolution of quality control, reagent and/or instrument problems. I am responsible for ensuring that the 6 month linearity testing and correlation testing is performed for each area and is put into EP Evaluator for review. I work closely with the Analytics Manager and chemistry pathologists with new test implementation or changes to existing testing by coordinating and documenting all of the necessary validation steps when new methods are brought in-house. I manage technical training of new hires and training of current personnel for new methods/tests/instruments. I am the lead for CAP inspection readiness and ensure that all of the requirements of the inspection are met and documentation is ready. I write, edit and maintain all of the procedures and forms for the chemistry department in the Omnitech Document Control system. In addition, I review all of the procedures biannually. I work with the Supply Chain Department to ensure ordering templates are up to date. I review inventory and order supplies for the department weekly. I also perform the year-end inventory at the end of the fiscal year. I work with sales representatives when new products are introduced to get new catalog numbers and pricing into the Lawson ordering system. I handle the distribution, recording and submission of the all proficiency testing materials throughout chemistry, including review of evaluations and investigation of any unacceptable results. I give performance reviews and goals to my team annually, create and manage competency testing annually, and conduct department meetings. I provide input to the Analytics Manager on new hires. I also maintain my own competency on the benches in chemistry so that I can fill in as needed in the department.
