About Pamela Baxter

My program of research focuses on health service delivery. My program examines and develops healthcare leadership in order to meet the growing demands of healthcare systems provincially, nationally, and internationally. More specifically, it examines issues/challenges faced by those providing leadership in long-term care and community settings (including family caregivers). My goal is to improve outcomes for healthcare leaders, providers, patients, residents, and the workplace by synthesizing, disseminating, and generating new knowledge to inform decision-making. I am currently the principal investigator on three Tri-Council-funded studies; two focused on multigenerational, South Asian caregiving amidst COVID-19 and one examining health system leadership during COVID-19. Since 2001, I have been a full-time faculty member at McMaster University’s School of Nursing where I have assumed various leadership roles and teaching responsibilities in both the graduate and undergraduate programs. My teaching/research expertise lies in qualitative research methods, mixed methods, systematic reviews, and the application of nursing theory to practice. I am also an adjunct faculty member in the School of Nursing at Federation University in Australia. I'm always happy to meet with potential graduate students.
