About Papa Keith

I'm better known as Papa Keith. I was born and raised in Brooklyn and seasoned with the flavor of Trinidad & Tobago by my parents. I remember as a child I would always imitate any voice I heard on radio or TV. As a young adult I was able to hone those skills rocking the microphone for DJ groups like G-String and In Touch. After moving to Miami in 1992, I hooked up with Soul Syndicate. We became widely popular on one of Miami's first Caribbean underground radio stations called Mixx 96. We were also making radio commercials for a company now known as Kommercial Kings. In I was given the opportunity to appear regularly on the wildly popular "Luke Show" on WEDR 99 Jamz. I then decided to take a course to learn every aspect of radio, as a career. I attended Miami Lakes Tech for Radio Broadcasting and while I was still in attendance, I was hired part-time to host my own show on 99 Jamz. The energy and vast knowledge I had for Caribbean music, catapulted a position as a Promotions Director at VP Records. After 4 years of working part-time at 99 Jamz, in 2003 a new station WMIB 103.5 The Beat hired me as full-time host of the night show. Radio & Records named me as one of 10 "Jocks On The Rise" in 2003, and I was also featured in Miami New Times 2005 "Best Of" edition as "Best FM Radio Personality." In 2007 The Beat changed formats and I was out of a job, and I also broke my business ties with Kommercial Kings. At that time I decided I wanted to be responsible for the production of my own voice and formed Soundboys Studio, a full service Voice over & Production Studio. Shortly after that by the grace of Derrick Baker (PD), I returned to 99 Jamz as a part-time on-air personality until November of I decided to leave 99 Jamz, to focus on running my own business Soundboys Studio. Now in 2012, I presently do an Afternoon Show on Star FM in Cayman Island, and Soundboys Studio is now 5 years old. I also curently DJ/Host and promote events.
