About Parag Sarma

Parag Sarma is a Design Educator and UX Design Leader with over 14+ years of experience in Industrial practices, Teaching, and Design Research. As an Assistant Professor of Product Design at the School of Design at Anant National University, he is responsible for teaching cutting-edge Industrial/Interaction Design approaches for undergraduate and Master's programs. Parag is providing students with a contemporary education that will prepare them for the challenges of the rapidly growing Design industry. Parag is also a Lead member of the Interaction Design Foundation (IxDF) North-East India chapter. He has demonstrated his ability to work with various Stakeholders, Design Thinking, Innovations, and Leadership Skills. Parag's academic experience includes serving in major positions at prestigious institutions such as Anant National University, Ahmedabad; Unitedworld Institute of Design, Karnavati University, Gandhinagar, Gujarat; Deptt. of Design, Nitte Meenakshi School of Architecture, Bengaluru, Karnataka; and Deptt. of Animation and Graphic Design, Budram Madhab Satradhikar College Sualkuchi, Assam. He is a regular external Jury member for the prestigious National Institute of Design, Gandhinagar, Gujarat. His 14+ year experience stint has resulted in 2 patents (US Patents) & many Patent filings and Design Registrations with MNCs and Academia. Parag's Research interests lie in User Experience Design, User Interface Design, User Research, Human-Computer Interaction, Design Systems, Design for Special Needs, Toys & Game Design for Education & Skill Development, Form Studies, Storytelling, Design for Elderly People, Cognitive Ergonomics and AR/VR/MR. As an alumnus of the prestigious National Institute of Design (NID), Gandhinagar, Gujarat; MS University of Baroda, Baroda, Gujarat; and Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya, Khairagarh, Chhattisgarh, India; Parag has a strong academic background. This has been complemented by his experience serving on various prestigious MNCs’, and Universities. Parag's contributions to the field of Design have been recognized through his publications and invitations to present at several prestigious Scopus-indexed journals including Journal of the Asiatic Society of Mumbai - UGC Care Group 1 Journal; ANVESAK, Sardar Patel Institute of Economic & Social Research - UGC Care Group 1 Journal, etc. As an experienced Design Leader, Parag brings to the front an innovative blending of Academia, Design Thinking, and Interventions.
